It’s been a while since I took pictures of our garden. Last weekend, we had the roof and the perimeter fence repainted  and the two painters left extra paint so I retouched our grotto and our concrete garden set. Then I noticed this, my Amazon lily is in bloom again. Can’t wait to see the white scented blooms.

The only flowers growing here now are my crossandra, bleeding hearts,  pink angel flowers and my shrimp plants. The two jackfruit trees are laden with fruits though.

Bleeding hearts... they must be lonely :)

Crossandra, I have these flowers as grown covers outside my bedroom window, lovely orange blooms that greet me every morning.

Until now I am wondering at the real name of these flowers. I only know them as pink angels.

Jackfruit, anyone?

Sweet Basil

Sweet Basil

Two weeks ago, Josef and I chanced upon some fresh Basil at Pasig market, tried planting a small shoot, I was surprised it is pleasantly thriving.

You’ll probably think these are variegated oregano but they’re not. One of the painters we hired last weekend accidentally dropped a small can of paint while retouching our roof, short of cutting all the leaves with the paint smear,  I’ll just wait for it to grow again.  I have plenty of them behind the house anyway.

I’ve missed taking pics and these are my latest shots.

About arlene

It's been some years since I started this blog. Supposedly, it was only to share my plight as a cancer patient and survivor but over the years it has somehow evolved into something personal about my life and my family. So really glad to have met you all wonderful people out there. Someone commented once that he liked the title of this blog, Dreams and Escapes. Dream on, there are more things in life than we really think. Be happy, you only live once. Sometimes you also need an escape from the vicissitudes of life and this blog helps me cope. Welcome. Feel free to leave your comments, I do welcome them.

Oh Arlene, these are absolutely beautiful and the jackfruit is fascinating! Those yellow flowers are brilliant and delicate! We are still buried in snow with another winter storm arriving on Sunday so I am really appreciating your flowers. Thank you so much for sharing them! Have a wonderful day, my friend.

Thanks Tina! Be safe. I read somewhere that the flowers are just the white ones atop the yellow. These shrimp plants love partial shade and they retain their flowers for a long time. The jackfruit could be eaten when it is ripe but we also use it as veggie when the flesh is still soft, mixed with coconut cream, it’s yummy. God bless you always!

Beautiful shots, Arlene! Hard to believe you are surrounded by such beautiful flowers when all I see is snow right now! Be thankful!

    • arlene says :

Thanks Kelly! It’s almost summer here now so the flowers are showing off. At least in your area, you enjoy the fours seasons. We only have the dry and the wet here. At least you could look forward to spring.

Do you make your own compost or do you buy fertilizer?

    • arlene says :

No, I don’t. I don’t even use fertilizer except the decayed leaves which we have at the compost pit. It’s just regular watering. Thanks for the visit icezorg.
